0:00+9.4s"For us okay before we get the recording going. So if anybody could give us a"
0:04+6.5s"shout out and let us know that we are"
0:07+7.3s"coming through alright."
0:10+6.3s"Would be great."
0:11+10s"Anybody?"
0:15+9.7s"They can't hear you. I don't know. Maybe they can't."
0:18+9.6s"Oh, I can see you. Look at that butterfly. You can see us. Can you hear us?"
0:23+9.7s"Yeah. I can hear you. All right. Thank you. Okay."
0:28+8.1s"Okay. Let me get the recording started."
0:32+9.9s"As we continue to do our Fumble Friday sessions"
0:36+7.1s"from our screened in porch and"
0:38+9.6s"y'all can't see all the beautiful flowers we have over on this side"
0:42+8.7s"Okay. Start the recording. Okay. Sorry."
0:46+10s"Alright. So welcome to another Fumble Friday. I have"
0:50+9.8s"course, I'm Ted. I'm Diane. And as you all know, we are the"
0:54+7.8s"warrior trading psychology team."
0:57+10s"I'm here to talk to you about all things related to the"
1:01+10.0s"psychology of trading and how to deal with emotions that come up in trading."
1:05+9.7s"If you haven't been with us, this session is"
1:08+8.5s"is dedicated to emotions and trading. So"
1:12+9.8s"feel free to ask any questions even if it's not related to our"
1:16+9.7s"but keep the keep the questions more on the"
1:20+9.4s"or emotion driven side rather than, like,"
1:24+10s"the technicals. Right. Because that's not our area of expertise, is it?"
1:29+9.1s"So this week, we're we're coming to you with a presentation on"
1:33+9.7s"hope, positivity, and the dangers of magical thinking."
1:37+9.8s"And this week, I know, at least with some of the traders that I've been working with,"
1:42+9.0s"one of the things that seems like it"
1:47+8.3s"it seems like it's been up for people is kind of"
1:50+7.6s"feeling very, like,"
1:53+9.6s"sort of hoodwinked by the market, you know, like,"
1:56+7.5s"having experiences where, you know,"
2:00+9.3s"what they're really expecting to happen wasn't happening."
2:03+7.4s"But, also, you know,"
2:06+8.6s"hot, cold, hot, cold, when things start moving feeling like"
2:10+9.8s"either I have to seize this opportunity or maybe putting more on it than"
2:14+9.7s"than you really should or, like, wow. I'm I'm up a lot."
2:18+5.9s"You know?"
2:19+9.7s"I wanna keep writing this. I wanna get the most I can out of it."
2:23+6.0s"And so"
2:24+7.5s"we wanna kind of focus on"
2:27+10s"those sort of runaway thoughts, those those thoughts that are driven by a"
2:32+6.1s"emotions that"
2:33+9.9s"can take you into the place of magical thinking or"
2:38+9.9s"holding and hoping. Right. So we're going to share"
2:43+13s"a quote. Actually, this is a poem, by Emily Dickinson. Do you wanna do a poem or meditation? I'm gonna I'm gonna read the poem today because"
2:51+9.8s"say that. You had a I think you had a folder or something last time, and"
2:54+9.7s"and so I I led the meditation. This is actually a favorite one. We"
2:58+9.4s"near Amherst, Massachusetts. So for for us, Emily is a"
3:03+9.5s"she's our, you know, local historical poet."
3:07+9.4s"We can go to Emily Dickinson house and see stuff. Yeah. We can also, like, the"
3:12+9.4s"like, everything is hope and feathers everywhere."
3:15+10.0s"But we really like this poem, and I think it really, really relates well"
3:19+10s"with with what people experience or can experience"
3:23+6.0s"in trading."
3:24+7.9s"Hope is the thing with feathers."
3:27+7.6s"Hope is the thing with feathers."
3:30+6.9s"Perches in the soul."
3:32+8.9s"And sings the tune without the words and never stops at all."
3:37+7.2s"And sweetest in the gale is heard,"
3:40+6.3s"and sore must be the storm."
3:42+9.2s"They quit abashed the little bird that kept so many warm."
3:46+7.9s"I've heard it in the chillest land."
3:49+6.8s"And on the strangest sea."
3:51+7.5s"Yet never an extremity."
3:54+6.8s"It asked a crumb of me."
3:58+5.9s"Yeah. We"
3:59+9.6s"we've loved this poem for a long time, and it's you know, and I think about it"
4:04+8.2s"and especially that last line, you know,"
4:07+6.9s"it never asked a crumb of me."
4:10+9.8s"Especially in extremity. Right? Right. You know? And that really makes"
4:14+6.5s"made both of us think about"
4:16+8.9s"Holding a trading. Yeah. About trading. Right? Because"
4:20+10s"there's a lot of extremity. There's a lot of"
4:24+9.9s"emotionality. There's emotional hijack."
4:27+6.7s"And in those times,"
4:29+8.6s"you know, hope does show up like this"
4:34+6.2s"this little bird that can"
4:36+9.3s"keep you warm, you know, keep you in this sense of"
4:39+10.0s"coziness, but but almost under under the spell of that"
4:42+7.5s"or in the trance of that. Right. And"
4:45+7.2s"and you have to really be careful with it then."
4:49+10s"I realized that I that I brought another slide into this later that"
4:53+9.6s"brings us back to the bird theme. So we'll we'll be coming back to that. I didn't realize"
4:58+9.7s"when I was putting it together that I that that that happened, but now I see."
5:04+8.0s"And so when you are thinking about your own trading,"
5:07+9.5s"thinking about, you know, one thing that I really encourage traders to think about"
5:12+6.4s"is how can I come back to my center"
5:14+9.4s"How can I come back to a sort of middle path"
5:17+8.4s"you know, really trading with a"
5:20+7.6s"really trading"
5:23+10s"in the way that in a way that I can stand behind?"
5:27+9.4s"That I can feel good about, that I can even no matter if it if the trade goes against"
5:31+8.7s"me or not, if I end the the day rag or green,"
5:35+6.1s"What"
5:36+7.7s"what actions do I need to take"
5:39+8.7s"to feel good after the fact about what I've done? Right."
5:43+6.4s"And so it's"
5:45+6.7s"you know, we think about"
5:47+9.8s"you know, people coming into trading and and hope is a big"
5:51+6.8s"part of that, you know, that"
5:55+6.3s"yeah, you have a lot of"
5:57+9.2s"you know, positive thinking, a lot of hope around what"
6:00+9.5s"You took my picture out. I didn't think I think that was I thought that was one that we"
6:05+9.8s"No. That was a picture from PEI. Oh, it was? Yeah. Oh, okay. We we"
6:10+9.3s"we're trying to just use our own pictures and Diana put one up that I thought was like"
6:15+9.3s"A stock image? A stock image. It was should move that."
6:18+9.3s"Beautiful. Yeah. I'm sorry. Was so so pretty, Ted thought it was a stock image. Yeah."
6:23+9.4s"Well, it will be at the end of the of the presentation. So over"
6:27+9.4s"see it late. Get to see it later. Sorry about that."
6:31+9.5s"So, yeah, coming into trading, and there is a lot of hope and optimism"
6:36+5.8s"and"
6:38+6.4s"you know, the way that"
6:40+7.0s"as the poem speaks to"
6:42+7.6s"it's an important ingredient"
6:45+6.8s"but it can't be"
6:47+6.0s"the"
6:48+7.6s"the quality to do the heavy lifting."
6:51+8.6s"You know, it's you know, the the necessity to really show up"
6:57+5.9s"You know,"
6:59+8.3s"with really thoughtful effort, you know, to to sort of"
7:02+6.5s"you know, meet hope."
7:04+10.0s"So that, you know, all of that optimism"
7:07+7.6s"you know, can can be based more on"
7:10+9.7s"really sound decision"
7:13+7.7s"Yeah. And we're gonna talk more about Mhmm. About"
7:17+9.3s"how how to be with hope and how to use it more effectively to make it more"
7:22+9.4s"adaptive. Yeah. So Ted is on some meditation."
7:26+9.8s"So you can settle back into your chair or"
7:31+7.3s"however you're situated, get comfortable"
7:34+9.3s"As you're ready, you can either close your eyes or have them open with that"
7:38+6.8s"soft gaze. Either one is fine."
7:41+8.0s"And just let yourself begin to breathe."
7:49+9.3s"Allowing everything to start slowing down inside of you."
7:55+9.8s"And really allowing your attention"
7:59+6.9s"to begin to turn more inward"
8:05+7.7s"tuning into the body and the breath."
8:11+8.5s"I'm really beginning to more fully notice"
8:15+7.5s"all those subtle sensations of breathing."
8:23+7.4s"Feeling of air moving through you."
8:26+9.8s"There you"
8:29+8.8s"expansion and contraction in your chest and belly with each breath you take."
8:38+9.9s"Each breath continuing to slow all the"
8:43+6.1s"thinking down"
8:44+8.8s"and really allowing yourself"
8:48+7.1s"to become increasingly present"
8:54+8.0s"Here in your body, here in this moment,"
8:57+7.4s"Just breathing."
9:03+9.4s"And as other thoughts are"
9:08+6.5s"distractions might arise,"
9:11+9.3s"with the inhale of your breath, you can just gently acknowledge them"
9:15+8.8s"And with the exhale, letting them go."
9:21+8.2s"Coming back to just"
9:24+8.6s"the simplicity of the breath."
9:28+8.9s"The simplicity of just being here."
9:39+9.3s"And as you continue to breathe in this way,"
9:43+9.8s"noticing any places in your body that might be holding stress"
9:48+5.8s"or tension."
9:49+9.5s"Just"
9:52+8.4s"gently breathing into those places and offering"
9:57+6.9s"some encouragement"
9:59+7.0s"those places to begin to"
10:02+9.3s"relax and let go."
10:11+9.7s"Allowing that stress, allowing that tension to flow out of you would"
10:16+6.2s"each exhale of your breath."
10:23+8.5s"Each exhale, letting go a little bit more."
10:28+8.3s"Letting go of the stress."
10:32+7.2s"Letting go of the tension,"
10:34+7.2s"letting go of"
10:37+7.8s"anything you don't need to be holding on to right now."
10:45+9.1s"So we really are able to just come more and more"
10:49+8.9s"into this present present moment."
10:53+7.0s"Into this being here."
11:04+9.8s"And as you breathe,"
11:07+6.7s"allowing yourself to"
11:09+9.7s"drop into just a little bit deeper"
11:13+6.7s"space of connection."
11:16+6.3s"Within yourself."
11:20+8.8s"Turning towards yourself with some warmth and kindness."
11:24+6.8s"Compassion,"
11:33+9.5s"Really meeting yourself as you are today."
11:38+8.2s"With all that you've experienced,"
11:44+7.8s"We've been drawing into your awareness"
11:47+7.8s"this aspiration that you"
11:52+7.2s"have cultivated around trading."
11:55+8.2s"And all the places that it's taken you"
12:03+9.8s"I'm meeting both the hope and optimism"
12:08+7.7s"you brought into this"
12:12+7.2s"as well as any difficulty."
12:14+8.0s"You may have experienced"
12:17+9.8s"I'm just"
12:20+6.7s"allowing it all to be held."
12:23+8.3s"In a"
12:26+7.0s"much kinder,"
12:28+8.9s"compassionate,"
12:32+5.9s"accepting,"
12:33+6.5s"loving space."
12:45+9.8s"I'm just noticing what it's like"
12:49+6.5s"to meet yourself in this way."
12:58+9.8s"And as you're ready, coming back to just"
13:02+6.4s"the simplicity of the breath."
13:05+9.7s"Feeling that rise and fall in your"
13:10+6.6s"chest and belly."
13:19+10.0s"Slowly coming back towards a more"
13:23+7.2s"surface level of awareness."
13:25+9.4s"Taking two or three breaths."
13:30+7.2s"Two or three more breaths."
13:32+9.1s"And when you're ready,"
13:37+6.3s"you can open your eyes."
13:38+9.6s"Welcome back. Thank you for that, Ted."
13:42+7.0s"Yeah. You're welcome."
13:44+10.0s"So we're gonna jump into"
13:47+6.7s"this presentation."
13:49+9.6s"With a quote from Mark Manson, who's the author of"
13:54+9.4s"The Subtle Art Art of Not Giving a F."
13:57+9.5s"I think it would be okay if we actually swore, but"
14:05+9.7s"Everything worthwhile in life is won through surmounting the associated negative"
14:10+9.8s"experience. Any attempt to escape the negative"
14:14+6.0s"to avoid it"
14:15+6.7s"or quash it"
14:17+5.7s"or silence it"
14:19+9.2s"only backfires. The avoidance of suffering is a form of suffering."
14:23+9.5s"Hear that. The avoidance of suffering is a form of suffering."
14:28+9.5s"So, you know, that piece right there"
14:33+8.3s"the amount of energy and focus and"
14:36+9.7s"strength it takes to try to keep suffering at bay."
14:41+5.2s"Right."
14:41+7.4s"Is actually exhausting. Yes."
14:45+6.4s"And and at some point,"
14:47+7.3s"you're going to lose that type of war."
14:49+7.0s"That, you know, you're gonna"
14:51+10.0s"if you remember from being a kid and playing tug of war, if you ever had that,"
14:55+9.5s"You know, your your team is eventually gonna"
14:59+9.8s"lose a man, and and you're gonna all start getting pulled into the pit."
15:05+10s"Avoidance of struggle is a struggle. The denial of failure is a failure."
15:10+7.1s"Hiding what is shameful"
15:12+8.1s"is itself a form of shame. And so"
15:15+6.4s"really,"
15:18+8.9s"really being with this and what I said in the beginning about"
15:22+9.9s"you know, moving toward this your own center, acting from your own center,"
15:26+7.4s"which is a place where you're really able to hear"
15:29+9.6s"the thoughts that are part of what I call the positive mind."
15:33+8.2s"An idea from Kundalini Yoga, the positive mind"
15:37+8.4s"which holds all the opportunities, the negative mind,"
15:40+8.8s"which holds all the all the fears, all the anxieties."
15:45+9.3s"And, you know, what could go wrong. And then acting from the center, the neutral mind,"
15:50+9.4s"the place where you are able to see the positives."
15:53+9.6s"You know, the and and trading the potential. Right?"
15:56+6.6s"And then you're able to see"
15:58+9.5s"the negatives, the risks, the danger."
16:02+9.9s"Because you really want to have a a sense of both."
16:06+7.3s"You don't want to go into things in a blind way."
16:10+7.4s"Don't want to get caught into that"
16:13+6.0s"that"
16:14+6.6s"dynamic of"
16:16+9.6s"you know, oh, I don't wanna face this. I'm gonna turn away. I'm gonna turn away and"
16:20+9.9s"harder and harder to turn away. Right? But, like, you get really invested"
16:25+8.4s"in that, and it becomes a way of being. And so"
16:28+9.5s"when we think about this, there are two different aspects"
16:32+9.6s"Right? There's actually what is happening in trading. And then"
16:36+8.0s"emotional experience relative to that. So"
16:40+5.3s"you know,"
16:41+9.4s"the stock goes up. Oh, yes. Like, I knew it was gonna happen."
16:44+8.8s"You know, I'm in. I'm it's moving. It's going in, you know,"
16:49+9.2s"I'm thinking about that car or"
16:52+9.2s"that house on the island or, you know, I'm thinking about"
16:55+9.4s"I'm thinking about digging out of all those holes. I'm"
16:59+9.2s"I'm thinking about everything's going to be okay."
17:02+10s"And it's kind of that takes you away. That sweeps you up. That sweeps you away."
17:07+8.2s"And now you're not really here with the trading anymore."
17:11+9.2s"So so you really wanna stay in this seat, stay with what's happening."
17:16+9.3s"And part of staying with it is noticing that tug"
17:19+9.8s"when that thought when that emotion is pulling at you"
17:23+9.9s"register that, hey. That's happening. I need to kinda keep an eye on that."
17:28+9.9s"If it's getting too intense for me, if I'm getting pulled in too much,"
17:32+7.0s"then I might need to get up and"
17:34+6.5s"take a walk around the"
17:37+9.3s"the house or something or or even get outside and get a brush breath of fresh air."
17:41+9.9s"Something that gets me away from my training station maybe for a moment."
17:45+9.3s"Even making a cup of tea is something I often recommend."
17:48+9.7s"Somebody this week said, I could water my plants."
17:52+9.2s"And I was like, it's a great idea, but you might end up overwatering your plants."
17:55+9.6s"But anyway, that's"
17:59+8.2s"that's the idea, is be aware of this."
18:02+9.9s"Right. So Martha, in the chat, shared"
18:07+9.2s"quite a bit about something that's actually a very common experience."
18:12+9.3s"Is really and this is why we named this segment Funnel Friday because of"
18:16+9.0s"exactly what you're talking about. So I'll go ahead and read what Martha was sharing."
18:20+9.1s"How do you cope with missing a huge move on a stock?"
18:24+6.9s"On Wednesday, I tried"
18:26+7.0s"DFNS at the open."
18:26+8.0sDFNS (DFNS at the open)
18:28+9.8s"I took a loss due to the halts. Then when I"
18:26+13s
18:32+8.2s"decided to walk away. Then I decided to walk away"
18:35+9.8s"around 11AM. I had no idea until Thursday morning that the stock"
18:41+8.3s"would start running again around 2PM Wednesday."
18:44+8.5s"It continued to run into the after hours session,"
18:48+6.4s"If I knew the stock would go"
18:51+7.2s"to a high of $95,"
18:54+9.5s"I never would have exited my position at"
18:57+7.3s"09:40AM that Wednesday morning."
18:59+9.5s"But trading seems tricky and is frustrating"
19:03+7.0s"because at 09:30AM Wednesday,"
19:05+9.4s"how would I or we as traders would have known the stock was gonna"
19:10+6.5s"make such a huge move."
19:12+6.7s"Again, how do you cope with this?"
19:15+9.2s"The feeling of being somewhat upset that you missed the move."
19:19+5.5s"How do you deal"
19:21+9.2s"with knowing that your overall idea about the stock was right?"
19:25+10.0s"It's just that you got in too early or way before the move occurred."
19:29+6.6s"As Justin said,"
19:31+8.0s"you know, the way that yeah. One of the warrior mentors."
19:34+9.8s"It's like coming to the party too early. It was really frustrating"
19:38+9.6s"and bothersome for me to come in Thursday morning and see"
19:43+5.9s"that this stock"
19:45+6.1s"had run"
19:46+7.0s"I was right about how it would"
19:48+6.4s"rally higher."
19:50+9.7s"How do you deal with seeing a stock do this? Martha, thank you so much."
19:55+9.2s"For this question. Yeah. I really also appreciated the the detail of it."
19:59+10s"As you shared a lot here, but it wasn't too wordy or anything. It was really"
20:03+9.9s"really succinct in terms of what you're sharing and your experience."
20:07+9.9s"I wanna say, I'm sorry. You know, I know that's really hard. Also,"
20:12+9.2s"it has been exactly what traders have been talking about."
20:16+9.5s"This kind of thing Right. Has been happening a lot, you know, and"
20:21+9.3s"Especially over the last couple of weeks, we've seen big moves like this starting to happen."
20:25+9.8s"And and there's and there's both there's been both things. There's been"
20:30+7.8s"works with people who are, like,"
20:33+9.6s"really, you know, looking at like the news about a stock or whatever really"
20:37+9.5s"know. Like, I know it's gonna keep going. And then, you know, and then"
20:42+9.9s"something else happens. And now it's back you know, now it's dropping."
20:46+9.9s"And and so on both sides of it, one of the things that you"
20:50+6.5s"here, how would"
20:52+9.6s"you know, how would I know that morning"
20:56+7.8s"You know, how would I know that that was going to happen?"
20:59+9.7s"What you how would you know? You wouldn't you wouldn't know that."
21:03+9.0s"You wouldn't know that that was going to happen. And it really"
21:08+6.6s"it really, really"
21:10+9.5s"it's really important"
21:14+8.1s"kind of hold this mindset of"
21:18+7.4s"there's a lot of socks"
21:21+10s"moving out there. Some are going up, some are going down, some are moving"
21:25+10s"fast, some are moving slow. You know, some have, like, no volume."
21:28+7.5s"And some have lots of volume."
21:31+8.1s"You are not always going to know"
21:34+9.8s"what's going to happen. There has been a lot of volatility."
21:38+6.9s"There's been a lot happening"
21:40+9.8s"has affected the market to, you know, for for"
21:44+8.2s"like, oil to go up and down or, you know, for"
21:47+9.8s"lots of, like, data centers or whatever, AI, up and down."
21:51+9.7s"Ryan is commenting change in the PDT rule that occurred in"
21:55+9.2s"in early June. Mhmm. You know, all of these things that are affecting it."
21:59+8.0s"One of the things that you know, about what you're talking about, Martha,"
22:02+9.5s"even Ross. These are conversations I have with"
22:06+9.1s"him on a fairly regular basis, you know, his own frustration of when"
22:11+9.3s"you know, he shuts down for the day and he's got stuff that he has to go do. It's like,"
22:15+8.3s"you know, going to pick up his kids at school or something. And"
22:18+9.8s"something makes a huge move in the afternoon while he's driving in the car."
22:22+6.6s"There's, like, nothing he can do about it."
22:24+5.6s"Right."
22:26+8.3s"So it's it's holding that that is going to happen."
22:29+6.6s"Yeah. It's holding that"
22:31+10.0s"you are not going to be it's like you have your plan."
22:34+6.5s"You have your trading window."
22:36+9.5s"You you have rules that you follow, and the outside"
22:40+7.4s"of that, it's almost like if you could think of it this way."
22:43+6.2s"I'm gonna trade"
22:44+9.7s"this fraction of the entire time the markets open in a day."
22:49+9.3s"This is my little window that I'm going to trade. And during this time,"
22:53+10.0s"I'm gonna make the most of what shows up in that span."
22:56+8.4s"But in order for you to not be completely"
23:01+10s"knocked down knocked down and and, you know, drug it"
23:05+7.2s"across the floor, I guess."
23:07+9.8s"Every day in your life. You have to set some parameters on"
23:12+7.1s"on when and where and what with trading."
23:14+9.6s"So it can't be this thing where I'm here for every trade no matter"
23:18+9.5s"you know, like Right. That can't that's a formula for crazy, my thing. It's"
23:23+9.4s"and it will. The market conditions you, and if you"
23:27+9.8s"and if you kind of give up all of that to the market,"
23:30+8.7s"then you're blowing in the wind at the whims of the market. Then you're"
23:35+9.4s"you are going to have feel"
23:38+9.3s"less grounded. Your decision making is going to be more"
23:42+9.6s"You are going to feel a wreck in your life."
23:46+9.5s"Feel unhappy with yourself because the idea is that you have this little"
23:51+9.8s"cereal bowl, and you're out in a rain"
23:54+9.8s"and you're, like, running around trying to catch"
23:57+9.7s"you know, I think it's raining more in this part of the yard or that part of the yard."
24:01+7.2s"And and and"
24:03+7.6s"truth is that if you if you"
24:06+8.5s"choose your spot and you"
24:10+5.9s"and you"
24:11+7.0s"allow yourself"
24:13+9.8s"to follow what you know works within this little patch"
24:18+5.4s"Mhmm."
24:18+9.5s"Then you can derive some kind of consistency"
24:23+9.0s"and not just with your trading, but within yourself."
24:27+10s"You know, a sense of constancy with yourself."
24:30+7.1s"Understanding of what you're doing."
24:32+7.5s"But if it is all over the place,"
24:35+6.9s"right, where you're chasing everything,"
24:37+7.4s"then you can't develop that."
24:40+9.0s"So to cope with it, you have to you have to make peace with"
24:44+5.8s"you know,"
24:45+9.9s"you don't have a swimming pool to catch the rain. You have a cereal bowl. Right."
24:49+9.6s"Right. And you and at least right now,"
24:53+10s"you know, who knows what will happen. But"
24:56+8.0s"but at this point, to take care of what you have"
25:00+9.3s"and to make peace with, you're not going to catch all the rain."
25:04+10s"You're gonna catch your your little bowl of it."
25:07+10s"And, hopefully, you are. Hopefully, you're in you're because you have to"
25:10+9.7s"you have to try to keep your bowl upright. Right. Keep your bowl from"
25:14+8.6s"flipping upside down and losing all the water in it."
25:18+7.0s"There's a there's a way that"
25:21+9.2s"the most important thing to remember"
25:25+7.1s"you know, emotionally and training"
25:27+5.8s"is that"
25:28+8.5s"you know, all of these forces at work with the market"
25:32+9.6s"are going to have this impact on you."
25:35+9.5s"To make you feel more off balance, to push you and pull you and"
25:39+9.5s"and make you question yourself, to drive hesitation, to drive"
25:43+8.8s"doubt, to drive impulsivity. And then you"
25:47+6.7s"know what you're doing."
25:49+5.6s"So"
25:50+8.9s"there's a way that mindfulness is your friend coming back to your center."
25:55+8.3s"Finding a way to be consistent with what you do,"
25:58+10.0s"and then really looking into that and acknowledging it like"
26:02+10s"how did I do this week? How did I do today? How did I do"
26:05+9.6s"emotional side, not just on the technical side? Right. And that part, I think, is"
26:10+7.5s"incredibly important"
26:13+9.2s"And even, you know, using Ross as an example,"
26:17+6.5s"you know, he"
26:19+9.1s"you know, he trades in this window of time primarily in premarket,"
26:23+7.6s"really cautious around the open."
26:26+9.6s"And sticks around a little bit longer to see if anything's going on, then it's it kinda wraps it up."
26:32+7.8s"And, yeah, even like I was saying earlier, he's been hit"
26:35+8.6s"know, it's like, yeah, something in the afternoon making this huge move."
26:39+5.9s"And"
26:41+7.3s"you know, sticking around for those"
26:43+7.3s"that those possibilities"
26:46+8.9s"you know, it doesn't fit fit well into his overall life."
26:50+5.5s"You know?"
26:52+9.3s"Wouldn't have much of a life. And and if he and when you"
26:55+7.1s"stick around and you don't get anything,"
26:57+8.4s"you start pushing buttons to make stuff happen."
27:01+6.9s"And and it's like"
27:03+9.0s"I've I've talked about this before, but the battery of the brain that controls, like,"
27:08+9.2s"that you would use for, you know, executive function and good decision making"
27:12+8.0s"is worn down by having to"
27:15+9.8s"focus and make good decisions like in trading,"
27:18+7.7s"in, like, high stakes, fast paced environments,"
27:21+5.9s"and"
27:22+9.8s"another thing that draws that battery down is having to exercise willpower."
27:27+9.9s"In trading, you have to exercise both. And it's the reason that you can't stay in this"
27:32+5.9s"place"
27:33+6.0s"day where you're, like,"
27:35+9.4s"leaning in and you're focused and you're in the zone, you can't"
27:38+9.7s"there all day. Even if you enter into or touch into flow states with it,"
27:42+6.4s"you're not likely"
27:44+6.7s"to be able to maintain"
27:46+9.5s"that that amount of mental focus"
27:50+9.6s"because, one, it takes experience and stamina, developing stamina,"
27:55+9.9s"But, two, there's just a limit to it. It is like a battery. That's why I describe it that way."
28:00+6.2s"Will run out eventually."
28:02+7.3s"When it does, then your"
28:04+8.8s"making whatever whatever decision. And often,"
28:09+8.4s"having moments of dissociation and not following your rules."
28:12+9.5s"And then, Martha, you have to answer your quite your"
28:15+9.4s"question. I hope it's not on our end, but it's"
28:19+7.3s"glitching."
28:21+10s"Yeah, the recording will be up. We"
28:24+8.1s"it'll probably be posted up tomorrow."
28:27+7.9s"And so, yeah, you'll be able to come back and look at it."
28:31+6.2s"I wanted to go"
28:32+9.8s"I wanted to go down for a moment to Isaiah right there. I didn't think that there was something really"
28:37+9.8s"important. I have seen a stock go up a 150% on a day."
28:41+10s"And then in two minutes, it dropped 99% from $6 a share."
28:45+9.8s"Six If you"
28:48+9.7s"took a small loss on a stock that moved later,"
28:51+9.5s"be happy that you manage rest and train the habit that will save you"
28:55+9.6s"from large losses. Exactly, Isaiah. I think that that is is spot on."
29:00+9.9s"And, yeah, and it's and it's part of, like, when we see these big moves,"
29:05+9.0s"yeah, it is awesome if you manage to catch a big move"
29:09+8.3s"and ride it just, you know, you know,"
29:12+9.9s"Danny talks a lot or uses to talk a lot about, you know, being on the right side of a wave."
29:17+6.1s"You know, it's like,"
29:19+9.4s"when you catch that momentum and you catch it just right,"
29:23+9.3s"and it it feels almost like the easiest thing in the world,"
29:26+9.6s"you know, to just be carried into into profit on it."
29:30+9.7s"But when you're on the wrong side of that move, it is crushing."
29:35+10s"Right. And what Isaiah is talking about is exactly right."
29:38+7.7s"It's like the the overall"
29:42+9.4s"you know, quality with which you show up to trade"
29:45+9.5s"the things that you consider important, you know,"
29:48+9.5s"that training of really good habits"
29:52+10s"ultimately is much more important than any particular move."
29:55+9.5s"Both in how you meet the market and how you meet yourself. Right."
29:59+8.0s"Rick says, I had my first huge loss last October."
30:03+5.2s"Hold on."
30:03+9.5s"You have to scroll back up. Yeah. Oh, no."
